Visiting Neighbors
Grant County offers the visiting neighbor program to help the elderly and disabled to remain in their own homes and be independent for as long as possible.
Marie Loutsch and Linda Raffety serve as the Grant County Visiting Neighbor program coordinator. They say the program is open to those living in Grant County. Aids do personal care, light housekeeping and laundry to assist elderly with their daily chores.
The Visiting Neighbor program was started 38 years ago with Pearl Lundquist serving as the coordinator. In 2012 the program served 63 clients and this year serves 50 clients. Clients reside in the Grant County area including the following towns: Stockholm, Revillo, Strandburg, Big Stone City, and Milbank. We assist our clients for long or short term care with the help of three part-time aids, Residents can get assistance weekly, every other week or monthly, or as needed.
The Grant County Visiting Neighbor Program is funded by donations given by clients, family members, or friends. We also accept gifts & memorials from the public and from service organizations. Gifts can be made payable to the Grant County Treasurer. Grant County funds the program if donations and gifts are not sufficient to cover the costs of providing this service.
