Planning and Zoning
The Grant County Planning & Zoning Office is responsible for administering and enforcing the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance and Drainage Ordinance.
The planning officer makes recommendations to the Grant County Planning & Zoning Board/Board of Adjustment as well as the Grant County Commission/Drainage Board on zoning and drainage issues for approval by the boards. The duties of the Planning and Zoning Officer are as follows:
- Answer questions of implementation & enforcement of regulations
- Maintain records for the office
- Assist in completing applications and collect fees
- Schedule and present applications to the board
- Manage rezoning of land for the board
- Manage process of changes to ordinances for the board
- Issue building permits
- Review plats & site plans
- Review conditional use/variance applications
- Review CAFO applications
- Review drainage applications and maintain records of drainage permits
- Acts as secretary to the Planning & Zoning Board/Board of Adjustment which meets at 4:00 P.M. on the Second Monday of the Month (unless otherwise posted)

- Assigns 911 addresses for new construction and maintains the counties Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) for 911
- Acts as the Floodplain Administrator/National Flood Insurance Administrator.
